What is the “Make Mom Proud” Standard?

This question might have you thinking back to your childhood, and the satisfaction you felt when you heard your mom say, “I’m proud of you.” Like that one time you won first place at your school’s science fair – your mom was proud of you. Or how about the time you taught your younger sibling to say “please” and “thank you” – your mom was so proud then, too. But what about now, when you’re at work in a huddle or perhaps a problem-solving session, would your actions Make Mom Proud? This concept was developed by Jeanne Bliss and emphasizes that ones’ upbringing and values can align with a company's mission and customer culture. If every employee came to work with their mom watching over their shoulder, they might be more deliberate in their decisions to impress Mom. You would not only listen to the Voice of the Customer and work to improve the customer’s experience, but you would put in the extra effort to deliver an exceptional experience. This standard allows employees to thrive in their roles and enables them to achieve their goals. When companies “Make Mom Proud” they help their employees prosper, enable them to achieve their goals, and be genuine to how they were raised.
